R.U.G.G.E.D. Rowdy Unda Ground God Enjecting Dominance is the moniker for this ferocious rhyme spitter originally born in Jordan. This middle-eastern rap beast is known around the world for his vicious punchlines and lion-like presence on the mic. Rugged’s roots in HipHop started in Orlando, FL, where he was part of a pioneer local group called Napalm Federation. He eventually met TzariZM & Synopse while freestyling in between classes at Seminole Community College. Once they linked, history was made and the Paradox Unit started their dominance in the Central Florida scene. Rugged released a solo EP “The Showdown”, arranged and mostly produced by TzariZM, back in 2002. This continued the buzz he generated at many open mics and battles he conquered in. Rugged was found killing shows and performances constantly on a regular basis hailing back and forth from Orlando to Tampa. Rugged also made a feature on a remarkably humorous jawn called “Drink Specials” that featured Celph Titled of Demigodz fame, Phil The Agony of Strong Arm Steady fame and long-time partner in crime producer/emcee, TzariZM. The track was released on Celph Titled & Apathy’s -”No Place Like Chrome” album released through Antidote Records based in the UK. After a well needed break to settle and start a family, Rugged returned to the battle scene being a staple in the now world’s largest Hip Hop battle league Grind Time Now, with his battles receiving up to fifty thousand views on Youtube and popular urban site Worldstarhiphop.com. The passion is stronger than ever as he proves that he is a contender to be dealt not so easily. In 2011, Rugged is set to give his music a rebirth to the masses as he works on a new EP to be produced by his Doxside family. You can also catch him on the highly anticipated DMG self-titled album by IMAKEMADBEATS dropping early 2011 as well. Some people rhyme like it's a walk in the park. Some people rhyme like it's the last and only thing they have left in them. Nevahdless stands somewhere between both, and God help the industry should he lean to either side. His name rings bells in the underground circuit, and his long-awaited LP, The Last Dragon,breathes fire. We're not talking Puff the Magic Dragon, we're talking Dungeons & Dragons. Through the help of strong family ties with Realm Z, and guest appearances from other hungry and talented artists (X of TDP, Napalm Federation, Lowz da Rippa, O.M.I.S., and others), this effort carries braveheart status as a genuine bangin release. The production of tracks like Ridiculous, featuring X of TDP, No Boundariez, and Rainy Dayz could rotate competitively on mixtapes nationwide. His tightest effort is the underground classic, Grab Yo Neck. Even the intro of this LP draws you to listen, as he runs through excerpts of the movie and then hits you with heavy sounds that could raise the dead from gravel pits with Inside and Outside. Nevahdless is relentless and aggressive, and most of the tracks sound like he's abandoned any and all restrictions of himself. Far From Basic, featuring P-Dox stomper Rugged Son, is an ill track that just feels like two pitbulls in a cage with a human. Still, even with all the accolades, the album does lack mass appeal. In this day and age where the business is about selling music, you can't carry the underground mentality at all times. Even though the album showcases lyrical supremacy, the subject matter is mostly hip-hop, blunts, and broadway. With the exception of Rainy Dayz, the album is one-dimensional, which is far from Nevah's capabilities. The production and mood, though dark, is kick-ass basement level hip-hop from beginning to end, and Nevah's made himself a target to be closely watched. I don't think he'd want it any other way.
